Team Science Institute 2020 – Virtual Training

The Institute for Research in the Social Science will be offering five virtual workshops covering the basic principles from the Science of Team Science (SciTS) such as even turn-taking, followership, social sensitivity that can dramatically improve team experiences.

This virtual experiential workshop will introduce the principles of team science from the latest research and practice, demonstrate strategies for building team capacity in new and existing teams, and hone your skills for teaming and coaching diverse teams.

The great news is that team skills can be taught and fostered among scientists at all stages of their careers. Join us for these online trainings `to learn tools for your diverse teams.

Tuesday, August 4, 10 a.m.- noon MST  – Evaluating Teams
How do you know if your team is successful?  A variety of different metrics have been suggested for team success, including publications and longevity.  This workshop will delve into network metrics to measure collaborative readiness and team progression, then explore strategies for building evaluation and assessment into your team’s regular activities.

Tuesday, August 11, 10 a.m. – noon MST – Team communication: How can we get more out of talking?

Communicating across disciplines requires intentional and purposeful dialogue. During this 2-hour workshop, participants will learn how to build the necessary skills for facilitating effective dialogue in typical team interactions. Based on the work of the Toolbox Dialogue Initiative, participants will practice reflexivity and perspective taking while engaging in interactive dialogue.

This workshop is offered free of charge if you attend 2 or more paid workshops

These workshops will provide attendees with practical experience and new ideas for improving your own teams and developing programs at your university to support scientific teams.
